(The following is a Letter to the Editor that appeared in the Daily Gazette)
Politics can often be mean and impersonal, but it doesn't have to be. I know this because I have seen first-hand the compassionate, thoughtful and driven way that Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara approaches his job of representing the people in our community.
I am personally appreciative of Angelo's support for families who have children with autism. The activism by him and his wife has helped give a voice to the people who need it most.
Additionally, he has worked tirelessly in the Assembly to preserve programs and services for special-needs individuals and their families. Last year, when funding for the state agency that serves people with special needs was in jeopardy, Angelo helped lead the coalition that restored funding.
He is also working to expand access to life-saving locator bracelets for people with special needs. These bracelets provide peace of mind for families that constantly live with the fear that one of their family members might wander off. Angelo helped raise money to purchase more of the bracelets locally and is pushing legislation to expand the availability across the state.
We need to vote for Angelo Santabarbara on Election Day.
